Prerequisites: Completion of, or concurrent enrolment, in level B Japanese
language
Objectives Students should acquire an understanding of theoretical and empirical issues relating to intercultural communication and to certain sociolinguistic aspects of Japanese language use.
Synopsis The study of basic aspects of the Japanese language and system of communication, as well as intercultural communication. Topics include communication problems, loanwords, networks, politeness, discourse structure and others.
Assessment Project (3000 words): 50%
* Tutorial presentation (2000
words): 20%
* Examination (1 hours): 30%
* Third-year students will be
expected to complete work of a higher standard.
