Japanese 1A: part 2

* Prerequisites: JPL1110 or acceptable equivalent

Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should be able to participate in conversations in defined social situations and to interact with Japanese in defined hospitality settings using simple Japanese; be able to use basic Japanese expressions while staying with a host family in Japan and develop reading and writing skills using a minimum of 120 kanji (in total 157) in a variety of contexts.

Synopsis This subject is designed to continue on from JPL1110. It aims to continue the development of basic communicative competence in spoken Japanese and the introduction of the Japanese writing system. An off-campus option is available (JPL1160). Students are recommended to enrol concurrently for JPS1090 (Understanding contemporary Japan).
