Objectives The aim of the dissertation is to train students to design and develop a research project, and to enable them to work independently, but with some supervision, to carry out the specific archival or primary research and to write up the thesis in acceptable scholarly form.
Synopsis The dissertation should be between 12,000 and 15,000 words. Prospective students should see the history honours coordinator, Dr Peter Howard, in their third year, between October and re-enrolment, to have their thesis topic approved and to be referred to their supervisor for commencement of their research during the long vacation. The date by which the dissertation is to be presented will be announced at the beginning of the academic year.
