Objectives

This MA program is designed to give students a framework for the undertstanding and interpretation of Australian society and culture. While giving students a general introduction to Australian concerns, historical and contemporary, the course also requires students to undertake more specialised studies. The interdisciplinary focus of the degree serves not only to extend the intellectual range of students, but also provides a unifying rationale. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition and development of appropriate critical and research skills, with the expectation that graduates should be equipped to make a contribution to specialised knowledge about aspects of Australian society and culture.
