Advanced studies in teaching Japanese as a foreign language

Objectives Students should develop a thorough understanding of a number of theoretical issues in applied linguistics and their applications to the teaching and learning of the Japanese language. They should also develop practical skills in course design and teaching practice.
Synopsis Whereas JAL4530 (Introduction to the teaching of Japanese as a foreign language) provides an introduction to a broad range of issues concerning Japanese language teaching and learning, this subject concentrates on more specialised aspects which are important in the teaching and learning of Japanese.
Assessment Project (5000 words): 60%
* Essay (4000 words): 40%
