Candidates are expected to complete a 25,000-35,000-word thesis before 31 December in the year in which they enrol (for full-time students). The choice of topic will be made in close consultation with the supervisor. With the permission of the director, candidates may in special circumstances undertake an MA by coursework only. In such cases, candidates will be required to complete part II subjects equivalent in value to forty-eight points.
