PhD and MA by research

Course codes: 0020 and 0017

The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is taken by the submission of a thesis not exceeding 100,000 words on a topic approved by the director of the centre.

The degree of Master of Arts (MA) by research is taken by the submission of a thesis not exceeding 60,000 words on a topic approved by the director of the centre.

Students enrolled for a PhD will be subject to a probationary period. Both PhD and MA students are expected to participate in the centre's research seminars. Students intending to do research in comparative literature are normally expected to read literary texts in the original language. The centre welcomes applications from students with good linguistic abilities.
