Objectives On completion of this subject students should have an overview and understanding of the communication and media history of Australia, and be familiar with communication and media developments in Australia in the 1880s, 1930s and 1960s.
Synopsis This subject is designed to provide an overview of significant developments in Australian communications and media history by concentrating on three important decades: the 1880s, the 1930s and the 1960s. Students study these decades in detail looking at technological developments, newspaper and magazine formats, journals of public opinion and the treatment and reportage of news.
