Tapestry
30 points * 12 studio hours per week * Full-year subject * Caulfield * Prerequisites: First-year major study or equivalent
Objectives On successful completion of this subject students will have acquired sound skills and technical fluency in weaving and have begun to develop a personal aesthetic involving both technical and conceptual experimentation; the ability to use a range of source material methods in the preparation for tapestry making and a good understanding of the importance and relevance of drawing; a developing critical awareness of tapestry's contemporary development.
Synopsis Tapestry at this level will aim to further develop the students' technical understanding and ability as well as concentrate on the forming of a mature and personal use of subject matter. Issues surrounding contemporary tapestry will be explored during the year.
