Objectives On successful completion students should have acquired the knowledge and skills in manipulation of clay with an understanding of its potential properties; handbuilding techniques, demonstrating manipulation of form and mastering joining and forming processes; the use of clay/glaze within the ceramic spectrum and its various basic applications; various firing processes and laboratory reports; and sound work habits and techniques.
Synopsis This subject introduces students to the properties of clay and ceramic materials, to design and technical procedures for effective production, and to conceptual and aesthetic sensitivity. Students are expected to produce a final folio commensurate with the chosen number of studio hours.
