Synopsis Introduction to quantum field theory. Review of relativistic
quantum mechanics. Propagators and scattering theory: Green's functions and
propagators, the S-matrix, symmetry, properties of the S-matrix, propagators
for electrons and positrons. Quantum electrodynamics: Coulomb scattering of
electrons and positrons, identities involving the [[gamma]]-matrices,
scattering of identical fermions, electron-positron scattering, scattering of
Dirac particles, bremsstrahlung, Compton scattering and the Klein-Nishina
formula, annihilation of a particle with its antiparticle, pair creation, the
Feynman rules for QED. The scattering matrix in higher orders:
electron-positron scattering in fourth order, vacuum polarisation, self energy
of the electron, vertex corrections, introduction to gauge theories.
