Objectives On the completion of this subject students will have achieved a deeper understanding of the methods of multivariable calculus and its applications in science.
Synopsis Functions of several variables. Multiple integrals, line integrals, surface integrals. Partial differential equations: wave equation, diffusion equation, Laplace's equation, separation of variables. Fourier series and their application to boundary value problems. Use of a computer algebra package.
Assessment Examination (1.5 hours): 85% + Tests and assignments during the semester: 15%
