Mathematical statistics II

4 points + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: MAS2011

Objectives On the completion of this subject students will understand the basic concepts, techniques and results of distribution theory, and their application in statistical inference associated with the normal and binomial distributions; be able to apply these techniques in applications they have not encountered; understand the underlying concepts and be competent in the necessary mathematical manipulations involved.

Synopsis Sampling distributions. Confidence limits and tests of hypotheses regarding means, variances and proportions. Regression and correlation. Introduction to the analysis of variance.

Assessment Examinations (1.5 hours): 90% + Tests and/or assignments: 10%
