Objectives On the completion of this subject students should understand the role of data-base management in remote sensing and image processing for earth sciences; understand the function of computer software; be able to integrate compatible data streams; use computers for geological interpretation.
Synopsis This subject is designed to demonstrate basic concepts and the underlying principles behind the acquisition and processing of geophysical and certain types of geological data, using computers where relevant. Recommended for geology, geophysics, maths and physics students.
Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 60% + Practical work: 40%
