Technology studies project

6 points + Full-year + 3-4 hours per week + Distance + Prerequisites: at least 24 points of credit from the technology studies sequence

Objectives On the completion of this subject students will be able to apply the various skills and processes derived from earlier subjects in technology studies to the development and production of a simple technological product or process; demonstrate understanding of the process of technological development and skill in applying this process; improve communication skills through a series of oral and written research reports made to the project supervisor and to staff/student seminars.

Synopsis This subject enables the student to demonstrate understanding of the process of technological development and skill in applying the process. Each student will carry out an individual technological development project involving design, development and testing of a product or process. Relevant resources and restraints must be identified and utilised/addressed. Requirements to be met include preliminary research, seminar presentation, and submission of interim and final reports. The subject is taught by seminars and supervised project work.

Assessment Seminar presentations: 40% + Interim and final written reports: 60%
