Objectives On the completion of this subject students will be able to describe examples of explanations of personality within each of the major theoretical perspectives; understand the role of seminal theorists and the theoretical perspective each has adopted in shaping current views on how personality is defined, measured, and how it is considered to develop; demonstrate familiarity with methods of assessing personality; relate personality characteristics to other aspects of human functioning; demonstrate skills in critically evaluating published research, conducting research and report writing.
Synopsis Topics covered in the subject will include a discussion of the methods of research and assessment in personality; the major theories of personality and applications to human functioning. The influence of biological and sociocultural variables on personality will also be highlighted. Distance education students are required to attend at least one full day at weekend schools.
Assessment Assignments: 40% + Examination: 60% + A pass on the examination is a requirement for successful completion of this subject
