Research I

6 points + 12 hours per week (4 contact hours, 8 study hours) + First semester + Gippsland and Peninsula

Objectives At the completion of the subject the student will be expected to evaluate and utilise appropriate philosophical foundations of research; distinguish and critique quantitative and qualitative methodologies; demonstrate essential research skill acquisition; make informed research decisions; critique research articles in both oral and written form.

Synopsis This subject will build on prior study of research in undergraduate coursework. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies including statistical analysis will be explored in greater depth. The philosophical foundations of the research process will be evaluated for possible utilisation.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50% + Critique (presentation): 25%; (written): 25%
