3 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Peninsula + Prerequisite: NSG2633, NSG2644

Objectives On completion of this subject students are expected to describe the nurses role in the context of the organisational setting; apply strategies for management of conflict; explain the psychological factors in specific health problems.

Synopsis Group behaviours; conflict and conflict resolution; the individual in the health organisation; the nurse as part of the health team; role expectations and behaviours in nursing. Applications of health psychology to special areas in nursing: smoking, alcoholism, obesity and eating disorders; childbirth and paediatrics. The subject is taught by lectures and seminars.

Assessment Workshop report: 30% + Examination: 70%
