Inquiry and processing skills II

Objectives On completion of this subject students are expected to demonstrate knowledge of the concepts inherent in epidemiology; discuss the epidemiology of significant health problems; describe the epidemiologic research process and types of epidemiologic studies; explore specific health problems using epidemiologic research methods; demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between epidemiology and health planning and discuss ways in which health programs and policy may be influenced.

Synopsis This subject provides the student with a broad knowledge of epidemiologic concepts as applied to the study of population health. During the course students will be introduced to principles of epidemiologic research methods.

Assessment Seminar presentation: 20% + Essay: 30% + Examination: 50%
