Inquiry and processing skills I

1 point + 1 hour per week + Full-year subject + Peninsula

Objectives On successful completion of the subject, students should be able to discuss the relevance of clinical reasoning to nursing practice and identify the steps of the clinical reasoning process; ask relevant questions, conduct appropriate observations and undertake accurate data collection; analyse and identify relationships between different kinds of data; synthesise information to identify nursing problems; record and report information appropriately; identify links between problem solving in nursing and other nursing subjects.

Synopsis The subject aims to introduce students to systematic problem solving and decision making and to the clinical reasoning process. The subject is taught by lectures, tutorials and group work.

Assessment First semester assignment 50% + Second semester examination (1 hour): 50%
