Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students would be expected to understand the process of learning, especially as it relates to adult learners; understand the process of teaching in relation to learning; apply several teaching approaches to their own work situations in relation to clients and colleagues; understand the educative relationship between the health professional and the client; understand the aim of health promotion as the fostering of self-care in the client; design a small program of instruction, including the processes of collaboration, coordination and change, for a group with a selected health problem; prepare a lesson fort he instruction of nursing staff on a selected topic; and utilise a theory to demonstrate application of the processes of teaching/learning, collaboration, coordination and change in the provision of holistic care to an individual or group with a health problem and a social problem.
Synopsis The educative process as an integral part of nursing practice and nursing professional development. Students will be encouraged to gain an understanding of the teaching-learning process within the context of their own work situations in relation to clients and colleagues.
