Objectives The students are expected to gain an understanding of the basic concepts and principles of physics applied to a health care setting.
Synopsis The subject involves a study of the following topics: electricity and electrical safety, mechanics of levers and traction, sources of ionising radiation including therapy and safety, principles of vision and corrective lenses, fundamentals of fluid flow and pressure in circulatory and treatment systems, the nature of sound and hearing including audiometric testing.
Assessment Tests/examinations: 84% + Laboratory exercises: 16% + A minimum of 50% of theory component must be obtained to pass this subject
