Objectives To impart an understanding of both the physical and theoretical concepts involved in the conservation and exchange of mass and energy within thermo-fluid systems.
Synopsis Properties of fluids and their measurement. Control volume analysis, continuity momentum and the Bernoulli equation. Thermodynamic properties of substances. Ideal and real gas behaviour. The first law of thermodynamics and its relationship to fluid flow. Heat transfer fundamentals, conduction, convection and radiation. Case studies involving thermo-fluid fundamentals including concepts of energy management, monitoring and usage.
