Fundamentals of energy conversion

J Soria

4 points + 22 lecture hours, 12 tutorials hours, 6 laboratory hours + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: CHE1110

Objectives To (a) develop a basic understanding of the fundamental laws of thermodynamics and a knowledge of components of energy conversion systems, (b) develop an understanding of the concept of a control volume and (c) become competent in the application of the laws of thermodynamics to analyse engineering systems with energy conversion.

Synopsis Topics covered include energy, first and second law of thermodynamics, properties and state of substances, control volume and control mass energy analysis, steady flow systems, characteristics of thermodynamic systems, thermodynamics of non-reacting mixtures, thermodynamics of reacting mixtures.
