Engineering mathematics I

Prerequisites: VCE Specialist Mathematics and, at levels 3 and 4, Mathematical
Methods
Objectives The student is expected to consolidate and expand his/her
knowledge and skills in calculus, particularly where relevant to other
engineering or science subjects.
Synopsis Limits and continuity. Derivatives and applications.
Integration, applications and techniques. Sequences and series; Taylor series.
An introduction to computer algebra using DERIVE.
Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 85% + Assignments: 15%
