Objectives To acquire the skills and understanding, appropriate for engineering applications, in the areas of multiple integration, solution of partial differential equations, transform theory, the application and appropriateness of data analysis and parameter estimation.

Synopsis Double and triple integrals in Cartesian or polar coordinates. Laplace transforms: theorems, step functions and application to solutions of differential equations. Trigonometric and complex exponential Fourier series. Fourier transforms and application to frequency spectrum of non-periodic functions. Probability and statistics: presentation of data, use of statistics software, probability distributions, estimation of the mean, bivariate data models. Partial differential equations: solution by direct integration, Laplace transformation and separation of variables.
