Objectives The student is expected to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the modern techniques used in improving the maintenance function. The student is expected to become proficient in the ability to apply these techniques.

Synopsis Responsibilities and liabilities in maintenance management. Safety, industrial hygiene and emergency procedures in maintenance. Maintenance workshop layouts and materials handling within the maintenance function. Quality assurance and the maintenance function. Noise and vibration control of plant and equipment. Value analysis and value engineering. Design for maintainability.

Assessment Examination: 60% + Assignments: 40%
