Objectives The student is expected to develop an understanding of
advanced structural design methods, develop skills in ability to dissect design
problems into smaller analytically tractable components.
Synopsis Design of reinforced concrete flat slab, idealised frame method
of slab analysis. Analysis and design of reinforced concrete slender columns,
prestressed concrete elements. Design of reinforced concrete building, analysis
and design of a steel portal frame. Relevant design standards.
Assessment Examination: 70% + Assignments: 30%
