Computer control applications

G Harrison

6 points + 52 lecture hours and 26 tutorial/laboratory hours + Full-year subject + Gippsland/Internal + Prerequisites: GEG2543, GEG3564

Objectives The student is expected to gain knowledge and understanding of feedback control and compensations with Fourier techniques and to model engineering management systems with fault tolerant distributed/hierarchial computer control. The student should develop skills in feedback control design, sampled data techniques and reliable industrial process control system construction.

Synopsis Review of the development of reliability of computer controlled application on industrial control systems with emphasis in hierarchical organisation and distributed computing to optimise reliability. Topics include industrial control systems, including fault tolerant systems; analog systems; DFT, FFT, convolution; compensation, optimum control; supervisory and direct computer control.

Assessment Examination: 30% + Laboratory examination: 50% + Assignments: 20%
