Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of a personal computer system operating in a network environment, software engineering concepts and the elements of the Pascal programming language. The student is expected to become proficient in the development of properly structured Pascal programs.
Synopsis Introduction to the personal computer: hardware, operating systems, keyboard skills. Network fundamentals. Program design: algorithmic structure of a problem, control elements, flow charts, pseudocode, modular design. Software engineering concepts. Introduction to Pascal: simple data types, strings, loops and branches, procedures, local and global variables, parameters, array data types, functions.
Assessment Examination: 50% + Assignments and tests: 50%
