Advanced energy systems 1

Objectives To study the fundamental principles of energy system analysis and the formulation of computer programs to evaluate the performance of electricity supply networks in steady-state and dynamic conditions. To acquire knowledge of the criteria used in the operation, control and protection of power system networks.

Synopsis Power system stability. Load flow analysis of n-bus system. Analysis and simulation of symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults. Control of real power, reactive power, voltage and frequency. Optimum economic despatch. HVDC transmission and links.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 70% + Class tests: 10% + Assignments and laboratory work: 20%
