Objectives The student is expected to develop an understanding of the basic components of computer image processing systems; to be able to carry out tasks involving implementation of algorithms; to be able to process images using packages.

Synopsis Binary, multitonal and colour image processing methodologies (including image acquisition, digitisation, enhancement, segmentation, coding/compression, edge extraction and texture discrimination). Computational geometric aspects of shape analysis, low level scene analysis and applications

Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 60% + Practical work: 40%
