Reliability of energy production and supply

Objectives The student is expected to acquire knowledge and understanding of applying the reliability techniques to different power system problems and of the difference between deterministic and probabilistic techniques for power system planning and operations.

Synopsis Power system reliability concepts, probabilistic generating capacity analysis for planning and operating reserve, probabilistic generating capacity analysis for interconnected systems, reliability calculation concepts for composite generation and transmission systems, reliability calculations for distribution systems, reliability calculations for substations and switching stations, reliability calculations for a typical HVDC system

Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 60% + Assignments: 30% + Laboratory work: 10%
