Objectives The student is expected to develop an understanding of the origin of electrical phenomena in the body and an ability to explore ways in which engineering principles and various biomedical equipment may be applied to solve problems in medicine and biology.
Synopsis Introduction to electrical phenomena in living tissue. Resting membrane potential, action potentials, nerve transmission and muscle activation. Brief description of a wide variety of biomedical instruments.
