Objectives The student is expected to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the theory, design and capability of the medical instrumentation used in modern medical practices.

Synopsis Introduction to the principles of operation of a range of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment including a description of the physiological processes being monitored or modified and the theory behind the medical technology. Studies include diagnostic and monitoring equipment, surgical equipment, implantable devices and prosthetic devices.

Assessment Examination: 50% + Practical work: 30% + Design assignment: 20%
