Bioelectricity

Objectives The student is expected to acquire an understanding of the genesis and diagnostic value of a range of bioelectric phenomena and the techniques used to record them.

Synopsis An introduction to the wide range of bioelectric phenomena and signals encountered in human physiological systems. The measurement and modelling tools used to record and understand such phenomena. Studies include intracellular potential recording, electro-myography, cardiac potentials, nerve potentials, and potentials from the brain.

Assessment Examination: 50% + Practical work: 30% + Assignment: 20%
