Objectives The student is expected to acquire proficiency in the use of the Laplace transform for circuit analysis and an understanding of network functions, standard network theorems and various two-port descriptions including scattering parameters.
Synopsis Laplace transforms: applications to LTIV circuits and systems. Network functions: poles and zeros, natural frequencies. Network theorems: substitution, superposition, Thevenin-Norton and reciprocity theorems. Two-port description of networks: Y, Z, h and T parameters, interconnection of two-ports, equivalent two-ports, ladder and lattice networks. Scattering parameters, conditions for losslessness and passivity, multiple reflections at network interfaces.
