Objectives To develop the students understanding of structural analysis techniques and structural behaviour.

Synopsis Work product principles: principles of virtual force and virtual displacements, equilibrium equations and deformation relationships. Pin-jointed structures: determinancy and indeterminancy criteria in kinematic and statical terms, stability. Statically indeterminate truss and frame analysis by the force method.
