Objectives To develop a capacity for design, installation and maintenance of offshore pipelines and for the assessment of integrity over the service life. To understand and develop skills in the design and operating functions of subsea well completion systems.
Synopsis Functions: pipeline components and systems, route selection, pipeline networks. Static loads: dead loads, pressures. Hydrodynamic loads: internal hydrodynamics, slug flow, waves and currents, force coefficients, vortex shedding, anchors and constraints. Laying, laybarge procedures, stresses, quality control. Physical protection, scour protection, anchor dragging, trenching and burial. Corrosion, protective coatings, cathodic protection, quality control. Inspection and maintenance, ROVS, NDT, repair methods.
Assessment Examination (3 hours): 50% + Assignments and seminars: 50%
