Objectives The student is expected to understand the computer formulation for static solution of complex structures and to develop skills in using computer programs to solve engineering static problems.
Synopsis Methods of analysis and computer formulation for static solution of complex structures including space frames, multi-storey frames, curved members, slabs, folded plates and shells. Finite difference and finite element methods. Use of computer programs throughout.
Assessment Examination (3 hours): 50% + Practical work: 50%
