Objectives Students are expected to use their knowledge of all civil engineering disciplines to solve a complex problem based on a real world project. This task should enhance their understanding of the design and decision making process. Students should further develop their skills in the following areas: to make critical observations of engineering projects, to transfer real world engineering problems into mathematical models, teamwork - both as a leader and a member, oral and written communication and computing. Through the acquisition of these skills and knowledge, students should develop confidence in the practice of engineering, particularly in the design environment.
Synopsis To carry out the design for a specified civil engineering development. The design project will vary from year to year but will include aspects of structural, water, geomechanics and transport design.
Assessment Written and oral project submission and interview of individual students: 100%
