Paper production, properties

Objectives To give the student an understanding of the properties of paper making fibres, of paper and paper board and of composites involving paper. To give the student knowledge of the major groups of paper products, of their markets, of the properties required in these products and of the selection of raw materials and process details required to obtain these properties.

Synopsis Fibre properties, properties of paper and composites thereof. Manufacturing processes and techniques used in the manufacture of products with specific performance characteristics such as strength, optical and surface properties, consumer preference properties.
