Process analysis

Objectives The student is expected to acquire sufficient knowledge and understanding of the techniques of process flow sheet analysis, data collection and data analysis to enable the student to evaluate the steady-state operation of an existing chemical process.

Synopsis Process flow sheet analysis: representation of flow sheet, decomposition, classification of variables. Data collection: sample heterogeneity, sampling errors, correct sample practice. Data analysis: reconciliation of redundant data, detection and rectification of gross errors.

Assessment Projects: 60% + Assignments: 40%
