Extractive metallurgy

Objectives The student is expected to acquire additional knowledge and skills in the application of chemical engineering principles to the extraction and refining of metals important in Australia's economy.

Synopsis The subject will be introduced by studying the place of minerals discoveries in the development of Australia, and the present position of the minerals industry in the Australian economy. The extraction and refining of one or two metals of importance will be considered in detail, applying knowledge gained in the chemical engineering subjects to the processing of minerals.

Assessment Examinations: 80% + Assignments: 20%
