Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have understood the nature and function of classroom assessment; critically evaluated different types of assessment techniques and identified the purposes for which they are appropriate; constructed valid and reliable assessment instruments; used simple statistical methods required for assessment purposes; understood the interrelationships between teaching objectives and evaluation.
Synopsis This subject investigates simple statistical processes applicable to classroom measurement and evaluation; the construction and use of a range of classroom assessment and reporting procedures; the use of published tests; the development and use of attitude scales and the role of educational measurement and evaluation in education. The topics covered meet the needs associated with recent curriculum developments relating to the role of measurement and evaluation in education, the design and evaluation of reporting and testing procedures, and the role of teachers in developing their own classroom tests.
Assessment Test (800 words): 20% + Two assignments (1600 words each): 40% each
