Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have familiarity and understanding of the major components and the functions of microcomputer hardware; word-processing, databases and spreadsheets; various types of software, evaluation of software, sources of reviews, copyright; issues related to the use of microcomputers in educational settings, such as policy, access and the development of keyboard skills.
Synopsis This subject examines the hardware, applications, software and issues associated with the use of microcomputers in educational settings. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills which are required to use microcomputers competently in the planning and management of teaching and learning.
Assessment Three assignments (1300-word equivalents): 33% each
