Curriculum studies: advanced teaching studies music (I)

6 points + 2 hours per weekend school + First semester + Gippsland/Distance + Prerequisites: DipT or GradDipEd or BTeach

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have an increased understanding of the wide range of pedagogical approaches available in music education; have become familiar with current educational developments in music education; be able to evaluate music curricula; be able to develop effective classroom music programs.

Synopsis This subject centres upon a contract task to suit the particular music situation of the students undertaking this subject. The subject will consider the design, implementation and evaluation of classroom music programs. Students will be presented with a wide range of ideas and approaches via readings and negotiated assignments which will encourage reflective consideration of music teaching and learning.

Assessment Essay (ungraded, compulsory requirement) + Report (1500 words): 40% + Project (1500 words): 60%
