Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed a critical understanding of the development of childhood during the period 1450 to the present; been introduced to techniques of historical analysis; been introduced to historiography; seen concepts of childhood as a political phenomena; undertaken a self-initiated small-scale oral history project.
Synopsis This subject will deal with the history of childhood from 1300 to the present. The subject is taught by lectures and tutorials.
Assessment Essay (1000 words): 20% + Book review (1000 words): 20% + Major essay (2000 words): 60%
