Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be aware of some of the philosophical, historical and sociological factors which have influenced mathematics curricula. Students should have become aware of the general principles of curriculum design and should be able to use these to describe and analyse some programs and strategies which have been planned and delivered in schools.
Synopsis The focus of this subject is the exploration of methodological issues which are relevant to the planning and implementation of a curriculum in primary school mathematics. This subject offers a range of assignments from which students must complete three. The assignments cover both theoretical and practical tasks. Students may also negotiate assignment tasks with the lecturer.
