Curriculum development

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to identify and describe the many elements which are involved in constructing and maintaining a curriculum. Students should have developed the skills to participate in curriculum design and change in an informed manner. Students should be capable of examining critically contemporary issues in school-based curriculum development.

Synopsis The subject will focus on the theory and practice of school-based curriculum development, including an introduction to curriculum evaluation. Current issues such as innovation in education in Victoria and the National Curriculum and competency-based education will be examined. The subject is taught by study guides and selected and recommended readings.

Assessment Two assignments equally weighted (1200 words): 60% + One project (1500 words): 40%
